Day 2 Update...

Well, day two of Ryan and Lauren's little lives has come to a close.
The day started off a little worrisome, but ended with much encouragement.

We kept Lauren in the nursery overnight so that Nina and I could get some rest. When the nurse came into the room this morning, she informed us that Lauren's temperature had dropped during the night and they were trying to warm her up. Thankfully, our pediatrician came in to check on her and eventually they got her tiny little body back to normal. She was back in our room by mid-morning. Lauren wasn't eating very much this morning, but by the end of the day, she was showing good improvement.

Ryan stayed in the NICU overnight, and he is still there tonight. This morning he was continuing to have problems keeping his food down in his little tummy, and they had to clear out some crud from his stomach that was left over from yesterday's c-section. At his 3:00pm feeding, I was able to hold my little boy and feed him myself for the first time. He was completely alert, eyes wide open, looking at me the whole time. He did pretty good with his feeding, but right after we laid him back down in his bed, he spit up again. That was a little discouraging, but later in the day, at his 6:00pm feeding, we got some good news from the nurse. Ryan, drank quite a bit from the bottle, and kept it completely down! Then, later at his 9:00pm feeding, we got the same good report. So, if this keeps up throughout the night, then he may get released from the NICU sooner than we thought. We are praying that he can be reunited with his little sister as soon as possible.

Nina is doing really well considering she just had major surgery yesterday. She is up and walking around, eating normal meals, and experiencing only a little bit of pain. Praise the Lord for her quick recovery.

So, the day ended with some encouraging news...Lauren seems to be on track, Ryan's tummy is getting better, and Nina is getting stronger. Thank you for your prayers.
