Almost Three Months

Can you believe Ryan and Lauren will be three months old this week?! I can't! Time has gone by too fast. We must apologize for the infrequency with which we've blogged. As you can imagine life with twins is CRAZY! It's been a good day when we get showers and three meals! But it's worth every bit of hard work. Thankfully we continue to have the help and support of family and friends which we are so grateful for. I've also gone back and forth to Tulsa to stay with Paul's parents as his dad is retired and can help during the day. And let me take a moment to say what a wonderful help Paul has been. He is such a hands-on dad. He loves taking care of our kids. He comes home from work and goes right back to work helping me. I'm incredibly grateful to have such a wonderful, selfless husband. Thank you, Paul, for serving our family so well. We love you!

It is amazing how quickly Ryan and Lauren are developing. It seems that every couple days they're more responsive and interactive. Ryan had his first smile early January and Lauren's followed mid-January. Ryan coos quite frequently and likes to stop mid-feed and play. Lauren is also starting to coo more, but takes her meals quite seriously. They are also becoming more interested in each other. When one cries the other furrows its brows and looks around to find the upset sibling. When we put them next to each other the other day Lauren quickly found Ryan's hand and began sucking on it (she's also found her own hands to suck on which makes me think pretty soon she'll be sucking a finger :-) ). Again they were close to each other and Lauren looked right at Ryan and smiled. It's so fun to see them interact and begin to let us know they recognize each other. They sleep in the same crib for the most part until one of them fusses, at which point we quickly swoop them out so as not to wake the other.

Healthwise they are doing great on the whole. They are both eating well and increasing the amount they're taking in. There have been a couple bumps in the road these past few weeks. About three weeks ago we had a scare and took Lauren to the ER because her reflux was acting up and we could not get her to eat or calm down. All was fine and the doctor chalked it up to her body fighting off something else, which caused her reflux to get worse. The following week Ryan caught a stomach bug, then passed it on to me, I passed it on to Lauren and then Paul and my Mom caught a mild version of it as well. Ryan is completely over it and Lauren is on the tail end of it. I'm feeling fine. Growth-wise they're doing fine. At their two month appointment Ryan weighed 11lbs. 14.5oz. and Lauren weighed 9lbs. 0.5oz. Lauren is just a petite little thing and Ryan's a bit bigger. They got a clean bill of health and the doctor said they looked great. Oh, and it looks like Lauren has dark hair, while Ryan's is red with some brown in it. The red hair likely came from Grandmother Treat. :-)

As you can tell things have been quite busy in the Treat household! Stay tuned for more as time allows...

Doesn't Ryan's smile make your heart melt? Well maybe I'm a bit biased. :-) - Photo taken 1/30/09
