Time Flies...

When you have twins! Life has been CRAZY keeping up with these precious babies, hence the lack of posts. Ryan and Lauren will be 8 weeks old Monday. Wow! Since we last posted, here are a few firsts Ryan and Lauren have experienced:

  • First meal out - One Sunday night we decided to venture out with the little ones and eat at Sonic. Not the most amazing dinner out, but the car ride put the babies to sleep so that Mom and Dad could have some uninterrupted talk time.

  • First road trip - Paul was off all week a couple weeks ago so we decided to take a trip up to Tulsa to visit Papa and Grandma Treat. What an adventure! On the way up we fed in the car, but on the way back we found a hotel that let us set up camp to feed. All in all it went smoother than expected and Mom and Dad were able to get some extra rest. Thank you Papa and Grandma!

  • First portraits - At four weeks Ryan and Lauren got their pictures taken at Portrait Innovations. They did a great job and one on-camera spit up and blowout later we left with more pictures than we ever anticipated purchasing of our little ones. Isn't that the way it usually ends up?

The past several weeks have also included visits from family from Arkansas and Tulsa. Marnie (Paul's sister) was here helping this week, which was wonderful. Nina's family started arriving today for the Christmas holiday and we hope to see Paul's parents again soon as well. Healthwise Ryan and Lauren are doing great. Ryan has a hernia behind where his umbilical cord was but the doctor is not concerned. It should heal on its own. One thing you can pray for is our babies' GI systems to continue developing. All is fine, however they seem to be quite affected by gas. We hope as they get older this will improve. Also, please pray that they will begin to stretch out their feedings at night. The pediatrician said they can sleep up to 6 hours at night, but we are still on the every 3 hours feeding schedule. We will be so grateful when we're able to get a little more rest between feeds!

Thank you all for your calls, emails and prayers. We have so much to be thankful for this Christmas season - our two new additions, life, health and most of all a Savior who humbled Himself and took on the form of man to pay the penalty for our sin. Praise God for His mercy in sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. May we remember what Christmas is truly about! We love you all, friends, and pray that all is well with you.

Christmas Day update and pics to come...
